The CRF230L arrived for 2008 as Honda's entry-level street-legal dual-sport, using an air-cooled 223 cc SOHC single, a six-speed gearbox and electric start. Its low seat and light weight made it a favourite with newer and shorter riders, while the CRF-R styling linked it to Honda's motocross range. Testers found it easy-going off road, though it was out of its depth on fast highways.
